Real Boxing for PlayStation Vita Launches in US
US gamers get their shot at becoming world champs in PS Vita’s first boxing sim
Vivid Games, a leading developer of high fidelity games, announced that Real Boxing™, its highly anticipated Unreal-powered boxing title, has launched in North America for the PlayStation®Vita handheld entertainment system, available via PlayStation Network. To celebrate the launch, Vivid will be hosting a two-week long tournament—the Real Boxing Vita World Championship.
Players will have the chance to go glove-to-glove against other potential champions from around the world to compete for the title. The winner will receive a PlayStation Vita, allowing them to bring another friend into the fray. Entry to the World Championship tournament is accessible via the game’s redesigned multiplayer modes, alongside ad-hoc and online single matches with friends and random players. More leaderboard-based tournaments will also be announced in coming months.
“With Real Boxing, gamers in the US can now lace up their gloves in the Vita’s first boxing simulation,” said Remi Koscielny, CEO, Vivid Games. “With the World Championship tourney starting today, players can jump into the multiplayer action immediately—we’re looking forward to seeing the result in two weeks’ time and congratulating the first global Real Boxing Champion.”
Real Boxing brings all the brutal effects of fighting in the ring right into your hands through use of the powerful Unreal 3 Engine and the considerable might of the PlayStation Vita—both of which are fully utilized in first handheld version of the popular fighting franchise. A wide range of single and multiplayer modes are available, including single, training, and career modes. The brand new analog controls use the Vita’s physical, analog, and touch capabilities to best advantage. Highly customizable fighters, improved graphics, and a real-time deformation engine showcase every duck, jab, and uppercut in bone-jarring detail—all in a variety of stadium and gym locations. Near technology is supported for social features and a new character upgrade system lets players upgrade their fighter’s attributes with points earned after winning matches.
Real Boxing is rated “T” for Teen by the ESRB and is priced at $9.99 ($8.99 for PlayStation Plus members).
